Lijiang Yuhu Village Travel Guide

Yuhu Village is an ancient village of the Naxi nationality at the foot of Yulong Snow Mountain in Lijiang. There are primitive and simple stone houses, beautiful natural scenery, and profound cultural heritage.

I. Traffic Guide

• Self-driving or taxi: about 18 kilometers away from the ancient city of Lijiang, navigation to Yuhu Village, about 40 minutes by car, there is a parking lot at the entrance of the village.

• Scenic spot direct train: You can take the scenic spot direct train of "Lijiang Ancient City ➠ Shuhe ➠ Baisha ➠ Yuhu Village", which dests from 9:00 a.m. to 16:00 every day, and the ticket price is 10 yuan. You can buy tickets through the WeChat applet "Lijiang Tourism Direct Train". After the vehicle arrives at the Yuhu Village Tourist Service Center at the entrance of the village, if you need to take the scenic sightseeing bus, you need to pay an additional 30 yuan/person.

• Bus: You can take bus No. 17 to get off at Yuhu Village Square Station. The ticket price is cheap, but it takes a long time. You need to check the timetable in advance.

II. Must-visit scenic spots

• Longnu Lake: This is the most beautiful natural scenery in Yuhu Village. There is a "lonely tree" by the lake, which is a popular spot for taking photos. In the morning, you can watch the Sunshine Mountain on the other side of the lake. The golden snowy mountains are reflected on the lake, and the scenery is very shocking. In addition, there is also a horseback riding service by the lake, the price ranges from 30 to 80 yuan, and it takes about half an hour to go around the lake.

• Locke's former residence: the entrance fee is 10 yuan. The American explorer Locke has lived in Yuhu Village for 27 years. Many of his old things have been preserved in his former residence. Here you can learn about Locke's life and his research contributions to Lijiang.

• Yuzhu Qingtian Scenic Area: It takes about ten minutes to walk from Yuhu Village, and the ticket price is 25 yuan per person. This used to be the summer palace of Mu's Tusi. There are stone carvings such as "Yuzhu Qingtian" and "Yubi Jinchuan" in the Qing Dynasty, as well as cultural landscapes such as Cedar Temple and Yulong Academy. Tips for accommodation

• Transportation: Self-driving needs to report the license plate in advance, and you can directly enter the village before 7 a.m./after 6 p.m. during the peak season; after taking a taxi/direct train to the tourist center, the sightseeing bus is 30 yuan/person.

• High altitude sickness: about 2800 meters above sea level, luxury hotels often have oxygen supply equipment, comfortable and economical hotels are recommended to prepare portable oxygen cylinders.

• Season: In autumn and winter, you can see the snowy mountains more clearly. In spring and summer, the wild flowers of the grassland are in full bloom, and each has its own scenery.

VI. Precautions

Traffic and access

1. Self-driving: Foreign vehicles generally can only go to the parking lot of the tourist center; tourists need to report the license plate of the homestay/hotel in advance, and they can enter the village before 7 a.m. and after 6 p.m. during the peak season.

2. Sightseeing bus: The sightseeing bus from the tourist center to Yuhu Square and Longnu Lake is 30 yuan/person, unlimited number of times, walking into the village is about 2 kilometers, and the slate road is more labor-consuming.

3. Round-trip: Take a taxi back to the ancient city for about 50 yuan, or take the Lijiang tourist direct train (10 yuan/person, unlimited times on the day). Pay attention to the last bus time (bus No. 17 picks up at about 19:30), and you can ask the homestay or Mafu to help call a taxi.

4. Horseback riding: The quotation at the entrance of the village is high, and the price can be bargained up to 30-50 yuan for a round trip; if you don't want to ride, firmly refuse, obey the horseman's command when riding, and don't get close to the cliff.

Plateau and weather

1. High altitude sickness: about 2800 meters above sea level, avoid strenuous exercise, prepare portable oxygen bottles (sold at pharmacies in the village), and hotels mostly have oxygen supply equipment.

2. Clothing: The weather is changeable, and there may be "four seasons" in a day. The wind is strong by the lake, so be sure to bring a windproof coat (windbreaker is the best); the temperature difference between morning and evening is large, and the temperature will drop to about 10℃ when it rains in summer.

3. Sun protection: extremely strong ultraviolet rays, with sunglasses, wide-brimmed hats, SPF50 + sunscreen, ice sleeves, to avoid sunburn.

4. Shoes: Wear non-slip hiking shoes. The slate road is slippery, especially by the lake and on rainy days.

Photography and culture

1. When photographing villagers, horses and stone houses, consent should be obtained first, and the daily life and privacy of the Naxi people should be respected.

2. Longnu Lake, Yuhu Grassland, etc. are original ecological areas. Do not trample on the grassland or throw garbage. Most of the streams in the village are drinking water sources, and pollution is strictly prohibited.

3. Locke's former residence, Yuzhu Qingtian Scenic Area and other toll points should abide by the opening hours and shooting regulations, and do not touch cultural relics and stone carvings.

Safety and consumption

1. Do not enter undeveloped areas (such as wild mountains and deep uninhabited pastures). It is easy to get lost or encounter geological risks due to sudden weather changes.

2. Hold on to the reins when riding a horse and do not stand behind the horse. Children need to be accompanied by adults and choose docile horses.

3. Confirm the price (such as horseback riding, catering, accommodation) before consumption to avoid disputes; regular restaurants and homestays clearly mark the price, which can be given priority.

4. Prepare common medicines (gastrointestinal medicine, cold medicine, pastes), and the medical points in the village are limited.

2. Shooting: The light is good in the morning. Longnu Lake's "Lonely Tree", Stone Village, and Locke's Former Residence are all out of the film. Wearing light-colored clothes goes well with the background of the snowy mountain and the stone house.
