Xi'an Huimin Street is the core area of Xi'an's halal food and market culture. The focus is on avoiding the main street Internet celebrity shops, Dian Dapiyuan / Xiyang City / Shajinqiao and other old alleys.
I. Core travel strategy
• Area and dynamic line: There are many Internet-famous shops on the main street (North Courtyard Gate). Locals like to go to Dapiyuan, Xiyang City, Mai Amaranth Street and Shajin Bridge; it is recommended to enter the main street from the entrance of the Drum Tower → turn to Xiyang City → go through Dapiyuan → visit Shajin Bridge → exit from Lianhu Road, the whole journey takes about 2-3 hours.
• Opening hours: 10:00-22:00 for most shops, breakfast (such as spicy soup and cakes) 6:00-9:00 in Shajinqiao/Miaohou Street, the night market is the busiest after 18:00.
• Transportation: 5-10 minutes' walk from "Zhonglou Station" on Subway Line 2 or "Qiaozikou Station" on Line 6; Bus No. 4, 7, 15, 23 to "Zhonglou West Station" or "Guangji Street Station".
• Tips to avoid pitfalls: The price of snacks on the main street is high and the taste is average, and priority is given to old shops in old alleys; steamed buns should be broken into the size of soybeans to be more delicious; beware of "specialty stores" and "explanation" that force consumption on the roadside.
II. Recommendation of authentic food
• Beef and mutton steamed bun: Lao Mijia's heavy rain steamed bun (Dapiyuan), 30-40 yuan/bowl; 8 hours of soup, rotten meat and thick soup, you need to break the steamed bun by yourself
• Cured beef sandwich: Li Wei's meat sandwich (North Gate of the North Courtyard Gate), 10-12 yuan/ piece; Crispy meat, fat and thin, and more fragrant with oil and spicy
• Soup buns: Jia San soup buns (North Courtyard Gate), 20-30 yuan/cage; halal soup buns, thin skin and fresh soup, not greasy with vinegar
• Cake: Southeast Asian Cake (Xiyang City), 10-15 yuan/portion; steamed with glutinous rice and red dates, soft and sweet, fresh in the morning market
• Small crispy meat: Dingjia small crispy pork (Dapiyuan), 25-35 yuan/bowl; steamed beef wrapped in flour, with rice, salty and soft
• Sesame paste stuffed skin: Shengzhiwang sesame paste stuffed skin (Dapiyuan), 15 yuan/portion; sesame sauce is fragrant, cool skin tendon, perfect with oil and spicy
• Huanggui persimmon cake: old brand in Miaohou Street, 5-8 yuan/piec; crispy on the outside and glutinous on the inside, sweet but not greasy, limited to autumn and winter
• Must-eat breakfast: Liu Tiger Spicy Soup (Shajinqiao), 10 yuan/bowl; beef balls + potatoes + carrots, with steamed buns to warm up
III. Accommodation recommendation
• Chang'an Yi Designer Homestay: Located in Zhonggulou / Huimin Street, New Chinese style, 3-minute walk to Gulou, night view on the top floor, 280-400 yuan/night
• Yishe 101 Hotel (Shajinqiao Store): Located next to the subway entrance of Shajinqiao, 3 floors of soundproofing, self-service laundry, 100 meters away from Huimin Street, 180-280 yuan/night
• Xi'an Bell Tower Hotel: Located next to the Bell Tower, old four-star hotel, a 5-minute walk to Huimin Street, including breakfast, 450-600 yuan/night
• Lingwai Homestay (North Courtyard Gate): Located at the opposite gate of Gaojia Courtyard, quadracle, youth hostel bed + boutique duplex, full of fireworks, 80-150 yuan / bed, 260-380 yuan / room
IV. Precautions
• Food: Pork is prohibited in the salal district, and national customs are respected; the snacks are sufficient, and it is recommended that many people share and try more kinds.
• Consumption: The price of snacks in Laoxiang is transparent, and ask the price before consumption in the main street; go to Tiezhijian, Laotongjia and other old stores for specialties (such as cured beef and Huimin pastries), and avoid buying "three no products".
• Safety: More people keep their mobile phones and wallets; stroll around the old alleys at night, and there are enough street lights in Shajin Bridge and other areas, but there are few secluded places.
• Take photos: take pictures of the night view of the Drum Tower, the fireworks of the old alley, and the process of making snacks; get the consent of the store before taking photos, and avoid taking pictures of the front of the stall owner.
