
Huashan Strategy takes transportation, routes, tickets, accommodation and food, and precautions as the core, covering one-day easy tour, hiking challenge, night climbing to watch the sunrise and other scenes.
I. Core overview
• Tickets: 100 yuan in the off-season (valid for 2 days, including Xiyue Temple and Xianyu).
• Transportation: Xi'an North → Huashan North High-speed Railway 30-40 minutes (54.5 yuan), take No. 1 free bus / taxi 10 yuan to the tourist center.
• The best route: go up and down from west to north (saving effort, 5-6 hours); climbing at night to watch the sunrise (departure from 22:00-24:00, 5-7 hours to Dongfeng).
II. Transportation and ticketing
• High-speed rail (first choice): Xi'an North → Huashan North, 30-40 minutes / 54.5 yuan; free bus No. 1 out of the station → tourist center, about 10 yuan by taxi
• Self-driving: Lianhuo Expressway → Huashan Tourist Center, about 1.5 hours; parking P1-P5, early arrival in the peak season
• Scenic spot transportation: Tourist Center → Xifeng Cableway Station, sightseeing bus 40 yuan one way; must take, arrive at Beifeng Cableway Station before 15:00 in winter
• Cableway: 140 yuan one way to Xifeng (Taihua); 80 yuan one way to Beifeng (Sante), 15 minutes to Xifeng cableway, vertical drop of 1200 meters
III. Route recommendation
One-day essence line (west up and north down, suitable for most people)
• Route: Tourist Center → Xifeng Sightseeing Car → Xifeng Cableway → Xifeng (Axe Split Stone, Huashan Sword Monument) → Nanfeng (Changkong Plank Road, reservation required) → Dongfeng (Guanritai) → Beifeng Cableway.
• Time-consuming: 5-6 hours, go to the Beifeng Cableway before 15:00 in winter to avoid darkness.
• Highlights: Don't go back, cover the core of the four peaks, and save effort to see the scenery.
▪Hiking challenge line (a road to Huashan since ancient times, physical party)
• Route: Yuquanyuan → Qianzhu Building → Baizhuxia → Beifeng → Canglongling → Jinluoguan → Zhongfeng → Dongfeng → Nanfeng → Xifeng → Xifeng Cableway.
• It takes 10-12 hours. It is recommended to stay at the foot of the mountain, leave at 2-3 a.m., and watch the sunrise on the east peak.
• Tips: Take more supplies, bring less water and food, and prepare gloves to prevent iron chains from scratching your hands.
▪Climbing at night to watch the sunrise line (the first choice for young people)
• Route: Yuquanyuan → Beifeng → Dongfeng Guanri Platform, depart from 22:00 to 24:00, and reach the top in 5-7 hours.
• Equipment: flashlight, windproof coat (the top of the mountain is as low as -5℃ in the early morning), gloves, high-calorie food.
• Note: Travel in pairs, long-sky plank road / The harre turns over and plays the next day, and walk according to your ability.
IV. Food recommendation
• Huayin Dadao Noodles: The most famous specialty noodles in Huashan. The noodles are yellow, and the soup is red and black. There are two ways to eat it dry and soup. When eaten dry, add dried meat sauce and oil-sprinkled spicy seeds, and add big bone soup, dried meat sauce and oil-sprinkled spicy seeds to the soup, which is sour, spicy and delicious.
• Noodles: It can be called the earliest "instant noodles" in China. The main ingredient is coarse grain, which has a long history and is said to have been invented by Hanxin. It has a unique taste, can be eaten immediately, and can be eaten for a few days. It is a health food that lowers sugar and fat.
• Buckwheat noodles: one of the famous snacks in Shaanxi, with a history of 600 years, with the characteristics of fragrant and delicate, thin and tough tendons. Buckwheat also has the effect of lowering blood lipids and blood pressure.
• Mixed liver bubble: made of various internal organs of sheep, sheep's head meat, sheep's blood, vermicelli, etc. with milky white lamb soup. The sheep's blood is tender, the vermicelli is smooth and soft, and the meat is fragrant. It is best to eat in cold winter.
• Camellia spicy seeds: Starting from April, the camellia on Mount Huashan sprouts, and after baking with chili peppers, it is full of aroma. It is a spring food that has been passed down in the surrounding cities of Huashan for a long time.
• Ma food: with buckwheat as the main ingredient, add various vegetable vermicelli to make soup, which is delicious and easy to digest.
V. Accommodation recommendation
• Homestay around Yuquanyuan: near the starting point of walking, 100-200 yuan/night, cost-effective, suitable for night climbing / hiking tourists
• Huashan Inn: Located next to the tourist center, 300-400 yuan, including breakfast, free parking, suitable for self-driving
• Dongfeng Hotel / Xifeng Hotel: Located on the top of the mountain, 800-1500 yuan / night (off-season), convenient to watch the sunrise / sunset, book in advance, basic conditions
VI. Precautions
General safety and equipment
•** footwear and protection **: Must wear non-slip and wear-resistant sports shoes / mountaineering shoes, and do not wear leather shoes, slippers and high heels. There are many iron chain handrails on the hiking section. It is recommended to wear cotton gloves to avoid sweating and slipping palms or being abrased by iron chains.
• Luggage reduction: pack lightly and bring only necessities (mobile phones, power banks, a small amount of cash, certificates). Water and food are brought on demand. Although the replenishment points on the mountain are expensive, they are sufficient (mineral water 10-15 yuan/bottle, instant noodles 20 yuan/barrel).
• Safety guidelines: Keep in mind that "do not walk to see the scenery, do not walk to see the scenery", narrow steps (such as Qianzhu Building, Baizhu Gorge) need to be one-way, not crowded, do not climb over the guardrail. Mountain climbing is prohibited in thunderstorms, and the cableway may be temporarily suspended.
• Notes on special projects: You need to make an appointment in advance on the official account of the scenic spot, sign an exemption agreement, and wear a safety rope to experience it. Those who are afraid of heights or physically weak should choose carefully, and children need to be accompanied by adults.
Cableway tour (west up and north down / north up and west down)
• The operating time of the cableway in the off-season (January-March) is 8:00-17:00. Be sure to arrive at the Beifeng Cableway Station before 15:00 to avoid missing the last cableway.
• The West Peak Cableway has a large drop, and people who are afraid of heights can close their eyes or divert their attention; it is forbidden to shake in the cable car, and do not stick your hand out of the window when taking photos.
Climbing at night to watch the sunrise
• In winter, you need to start from 22:00 to 24:00 for night climbing, carry a strong flashlight/headlight, walk in pairs, and avoid walking alone.
• The temperature on the top of the mountain is as low as about -10℃ in the early morning. You can bring your own thick coat or rent a military coat at Dongfeng Guanritai (about 50 yuan/piece, bargaining in the off-season).
• There are no street lights in the night climbing section, and the steps are slippery. Pay attention to your feet. If you are not physically exhausted, you can stop at the rest point along the way. Don't force it.
Hiking and mountain climbing (a road in Huashan since ancient times)
• The whole journey takes about 6-8 hours. It is recommended to leave before 6:00 a.m. to avoid the high temperature at noon; in summer, you need to bring a sun hat and sunscreen, and pay attention to anti-slip in winter (some sections of the road are frozen).
• There are many temples and rest points along the way, and you can rest your feet as needed; those with poor physical strength can take the cable car in sections, and you don't have to force them to walk all the way.
Tickets and reservations
• Tickets are 100 yuan in the off-season (January-March), valid for 2 days, including Xiyue Temple and Xianyu; scenic sightseeing bus (tourist center ↔ cable car station) 40 yuan one way, must buy, no walking shortcut.
• The long-sky plank road and the horie turnover are limited daily. You need to make an appointment 1-2 days in advance in the peak season, and you can make an appointment on the spot in the off-season; those who have not made an appointment cannot experience it.
Other practical tips
• The accommodation conditions on the mountain are limited. The beds in Dongfeng Hotel and Xifeng Hotel are tight. You need to book 3 days in advance in the off-season and 1 week in advance in the peak season. If you have a limited budget, you can stay in the mountainside homestay and climb the mountain early the next morning.
• There are many stone steps in Huashan. If you have bad knees, it is recommended to wear knee pads; you can walk sideways when going down the mountain to reduce knee pressure.
• Respect the regulations of the scenic spot, do not graffiti and do not litter; please take away the garbage generated by mountain climbing, or throw it into the trash can along the way.
