@Kumutage, in Uyghur language, means "sand mountain", and Kumutage Desert refers to "a desert with sand mountains". According to the elderly, the famous ancient city of Loulan may be buried beneath the desert. The Kumutage Desert is mainly formed by the southwest wind from the Qijiaojing wind outlet of the Tianshan Mountains and the southeast wind from the Dabancheng wind outlet. Along the way, it passes through a long wind path, carrying a large amount of sand, and finally meets, collides and deposits in the Kumutage area. The Kuruktag Mountain in the south also promotes the weakening of wind force in both directions and the deposition of sandstorms, forming the unique landscape of "desert with sand mountains". The Kumutage Desert has become a scenic area that integrates scientific research, exploration, sand sports, sand therapy and health care, and desert sightseeing. Climbing up the golden sand mountain and looking into the distance, one can see the vast expanse of yellow sand, continuous sand ridges, connected to the sky, giving a sense of vastness, magnificence, solemnity, and profundity. Yellow and green are distinct, strongly contrasting, and harmoniously unified, which is amazing. The temperature difference between day and night in Shashan is large. During the summer season, the surface sand temperature can reach 70 ℃, with a maximum of 82.3 ℃. Eggs buried in the sand can be boiled. The unique climate provides a unique environment for desert tourism and sand therapy. Sand therapy is an important part of Uyghur medicine with a long history.
