There are five whole islands, three peninsulas, and one seawall connecting the islands in the lake, with various shapes and emerald green like jade
Lugu Lake is located in Lugu Lake Town, Yanyuan County, Sichuan Province, outside the boundary between Sichuan and Yunnan provinces. It is 258 kilometers away from Xichang City and resembles a huge, flawless white pearl set in the southwest of our country. Her picturesque scenery, the ancient matrilineal customs and traditions, the "Noah's Ark" in Christianity, and the bell and drum of Lamaism are so eye-catching that many tourists turn their attention to this mysterious land, Lugu Lake. The locals call it "Xie Nami", which means sea and mother lake. From a high altitude, it looks like a flying swallow spreading its wings. It is also the largest natural freshwater lake in Sichuan and is known as the "pearl of the plateau". To the northwest of the lake, the magnificent Mount Geum stands tall, which is the personified goddess Geum worshipped by the Mosuo people. To the southeast of the lake, connected to a sea of grass, there is abundant grass and fertile cattle and sheep. In the shallow sea, dense reeds sway in the wind, and clusters of flowers and plants bloom. Every spring, tens of thousands of rare migratory birds such as swans and black necked cranes inhabit here, adding a kind of vitality and scenery. Around the lake, in the dense primitive forest, rare animals such as leopards, deer, rock sheep, red pandas, macaques, and antelopes roam around, giving people a sense of fear and wildness. By the lake, with crisscrossing paths and vast fields, the sun rises and the sun sets. Wooden houses are stacked, smoke wafts from cooking, pastoral songs are aged, and fishing fires are lit. Brothers and sisters accompany each other, creating a picturesque countryside that leaves visitors restless
The Naxi peopleMosuo peopleliving by the Lugu Lake have unique marriages and customs. The heads of each household are all women, and their family members are all of matrilineal descent. For example, among family members, grandparents only have grandmothers and their brothers and sisters, while mothers only have mothers, uncles and aunts. The children of Ah Xiao's marriage refer to their divorced father as "Awa" or "Ada"
Here, everything is so magical and ancient, whether it's the Chengding ceremony, Axia marriageLugu Lake, matrilineal families, funerals, they are all unique. Every etiquette, every custom, is a beautiful and moving story, a series of melodious pastoral songs, full of a bit of mystery, a bit of romance, a bit of poetry, a bit of painting, thus giving people imagination and memory. The beautiful mountains and waters of Lugu Lake are even more beautiful. In addition to the peculiar marriage and customs, the unique attire of the girls and boys by the lake is even more remarkable. Lugu Lake is both a land of daughters and a kingdom of singing and dancing. Once set foot on this hot land, visitors are moved by the distant and graceful "Ahabala", and tempted by the rolling armor like a giant dragon. Look, the pig trough boat drifting from afar, carrying Ah Mei, waves to you and lets out its throat, saying, 'Hey friend, don't leave when you come. Ah Mei will accompany you until the moon sets on the western hill.'. On the fertile land of Lugu Lake, people's food culture is also heavily imbued with natural and ancient characteristics. To this day, the cuisine of the Nari people, whether as a staple or a side dish, still uses mountain spring water, fragrant grass, nuts, and grains as seasonings. It is artificially brewed, marinated, roasted, and boiled, and then placed in jars over fire and in pots for several days, months, and even years before being opened for consumption by distant visitors. These are the famous pork fat meat, Sulima wine, sour fish, grilled fish jerky, cow head rice, pig intestine blood rice, etc. from Lugu Lake. These delicious dishes will leave you dazzled and endlessly savored
