Taste the long street banquet of Chuxiong's "Yi Tribe" and enjoy the Yi song and dance party. Long street banquet is a traditional custom of the Yi ethnic group's Torch Festival. Whenever the festival comes, the Yi people will set up a banquet in the village to celebrate the festival together. Long street banquet is a traditional sacrificial activity held before the start of spring plowing every year, and it is also a custom for the Yi people to hold a long street banquet during the New Year. They carry nearly 40 types of Yi ethnic cuisine and good wine, including yellow glutinous rice, three colored eggs, pigs, chickens, fish, duck meat, beef jerky, muntjac jerky, meat floss, peanuts, etc., to designated streets and set them up. Each household sets up one to two tables, and each table is placed along the street, forming a street banquet (locally known as the Long Dragon Banquet or Street Wine) that is over 500 meters long. It is like a long dragon. When celebrating with wine, more than a hundred tables line up like a long dragon, hence the name "Long Street Banquet". The people of the tribe gather around to eat, sing, and dance, celebrating the festival together, praying for good weather, abundant crops, and peace for people and livestock this year. With the development of the times, this event has become the grandest festival for ethnic minorities here@During the banquet held at 3#
, the sound of drums and gongs was loud and lively. Men, women, children, and elders from all over the village dressed in festive attire, accompanied by their daughters and elderly people, gathered from all directions to enter the banquet. When seated, the host takes the lead and sits first, while others voluntarily form a long table based on gender, age, and interests. When the dishes of each household are served, they all head to the dragon's head to taste and accept the dragon's sincere toast. The dragon head scoops out some of the dishes from each household, stacks them together, and then distributes them to various places. This mixed dish symbolizes that the whole village will work together to worship the gods and welcome the dragon to celebrate the festival with the whole village
The long street banquet begins, with the dragon head leading the entire village to raise their glasses high, wishing for a smooth and prosperous year ahead. For those attending the banquet, the first chopstick is a small piece of dragon pork placed in the center of the table, indicating that the dragon has taken heart, and then they can eat other dishes. If tourists encounter a long street banquet, people will invite them to sit down, invite them to the table, and warmly entertain them. Every year, more than 4000 people attend the long street banquet, and the guests and hosts eat, drink, and bless each other, creating a joyful atmosphere. During the meal, the elderly took advantage of their drinking to sing and dance with various musical instruments. After the young men and women have had enough to drink and eat, they make an appointment to walk into the bamboo forest and talk about love. The banquet lasted until 5 pm, with the dragon head beating the drum and passing under the dragon tree around the table. Everyone clasped their hands together to bid farewell to the dragon and gestured to send him home. At night, as the banquet dispersed, young men and women sang, danced, and talked about love. all through the night. This activity will be held for three days and three nights
