Jianshui Ancient City

Jianshui City was originally built as a earthen city during the Nanzhao period, and was expanded into a brick city in the 20th year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty (1387). When Li Dingguo captured Lin'an City, the three city towers in the north, south, and west were destroyed in the war. They were rebuilt in the fourth year of Kangxi's reign and later destroyed again. Only the East Gate Chaoyang Tower, despite experiencing multiple wars and earthquakes, still stands tall for nearly 600 years. Jianshui County started building temple schools in the Yuan Dynasty. During the Ming Hong period, Lin'an Prefecture School was established, and during the Wanli period, Shuizhou Confucianism was also built. During the Qing Dynasty, four academies were established successively: Chongzheng, Huanwen, and Chongwen Qujiang. At that time, there was a saying of "Lin'an Prefecture", which accounted for about half of the successful candidates in the Yunnan imperial examination, making it the crown of Yunnan and becoming rare in the country. Zhujia Garden

Zhujia Garden was first built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty by local gentry brothers Zhu Weiqing, and is adjacent to the ancestral temple. Zhangjia Garden

Zhangjia Garden ranks second only to Zhujia Garden in terms of architectural scale among Jianshui residents, while its building quality, integrity, and cultural heritage value can be considered the top. Zhangjia Garden is located in Tuanshan Village, 13 kilometers west of Jianshui City. It was built in the late Qing Dynasty and covers an area of about 10000 square meters. It is a private residence of the Zhang family. The basic layout of the house is in the form of a "four in five courtyard" traditional residential building in Jianshui. It is vertically and horizontally arranged in parallel to form two groups of three courtyard houses and garden ancestral halls. It is a large-scale, high-quality, and well preserved residential building complex. Unlike the Zhu family garden, the Zhang family garden still serves as a residential area, but it is now dispersed among several different families in various courtyards, no longer the former wealthy households. But there is still the elegant and luxurious atmosphere in the courtyard, especially those wooden doors and windows with a faint layer of gold paint. The exquisite level of wood carving is comparable to that of Zhujia Garden, and even comparable to Huizhou

Chaoyang Building

Chaoyang Building was built in the 22nd year of the Ming Hongwu reign (1389) and has been in existence for over 600 years. It is one of the main symbols of the long history of Jianshui, a key town in southern Yunnan, and a symbol of the old border town of our country. During the Tang Yuanhe period, the Nanzhao regime built Huili City here, which was a earthen city. In the 20th year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty, after pacifying Yunnan, the Ming army established the Lin'an Guard and built the Lin'an Guard City. On the basis of the original earthen city, the land was expanded and rebuilt into a brick city. There are four gates in the city, called Yinghui Gate to the east, Fu'an Gate to the south, Qingyuan Gate to the west, and Yongzhen Gate to the north. Yanzi Cave

Yanzi Cave is famous for its unique landscapes such as the wonders of ancient caves, the gathering of spring swallows, the hanging of stalactites, and the skill of collecting bird's nests. Shuanglong Bridge

The famous Shuanglong Bridge is a 17 arch stone arch bridge with double pavilions. It is located 5 kilometers west of Jianshui City, at the confluence of the Lushui River and the Tuocun River. It is named after the two rivers winding like dragons. The so-called 'double dragons' refer to the two rivers, the Tuochong River and the Lujiang River, which have a bridge to lock the' double dragons'
