The energy consumption of 5000 kcal per kilogram of porcelain products is a key research project of the Ministry of Light Industry during the "Eighth Five Year Plan" period. In 1995, this technical difficulty was first overcome by experts and technicians from Lichuan Ceramics, and the energy consumption per kilogram of porcelain was reduced from 16000 kcal to 4700 kcal. The qualification rate of first and second grade products produced by firing increased by 12 percentage points, and the whiteness of porcelain was 10 percentage points better than the standard of the Ministry of Light Industry, reaching the advanced level of domestic daily-use porcelain furnaces. The new and old directors of 10 porcelain factories in Jingdezhen, the leader of ceramics, came to Lichuan specifically for inspection and learning. The level of Lichuan kiln did not stagnate as a result. In 1999, the large section tunnel kiln further reduced energy consumption by 30% to 3000 kcal per kilogram of porcelain.
