VII. Best Travel Time
- May-June (Azalea Season): Alpine azaleas bloom in succession at an altitude of 2,500-4,000 meters, contrasting with the unmelting snow mountains, forming a spectacular scene of "snow on one half of the mountain, flowers on the other". Mostly sunny weather with high chances of capturing snow mountains and flower seas in one frame. Large temperature difference between day and night (0-15℃), occasional spring rain; windproof coats and sun protection products are a must.
- July-August (Summer Resort Season): Lush forests and abundant streams make it a natural summer resort. Canyon rafting and glass plank road are available; camping on pastures to watch the Milky Way at night is a great experience. Frequent showers; rain gear and quick-drying clothes are recommended.
- September-October (Colorful Forest Season): Clear autumn sky with little rain, the canyons and mountain slopes are covered with colorful foliage. Red maples, golden birches, snow mountains and Tibetan villages form a painting-like scenery with excellent visibility, perfect for photography and hiking. Comfortable temperature (5-20℃) with large day and night temperature difference; warm coats are needed.
- November-April (Snow Season): The scenic area is covered in snow, making Gezong Snow Mountain and Shambhala Stupa more sacred. Rime hangs all over the forest with few tourists, ideal for travelers pursuing tranquility and snow experiences. Severe cold protection is required (-10 to 5℃); some sections may be icy, so safety should be noted.
