Introduction
& nbsp; In 1882 (the eighth year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty), Taipei City was completed. At that time, the city had five gates. The east gate was called Jingfu, the west gate was called Baocheng, the large south gate was called Lizheng, the small south gate was called Chongxi, and the north gate was called Cheng'en. The architectural forms of the five city garrisons are the same. Over the course of more than a hundred years of vicissitudes and hardships, the city gates of Taipei Prefecture have also undergone hardships and trials. The most well preserved one today is the Cheng'en Gate, which is a first-class historical site in the province. Standing on the ground and seeing things, one can't help but imagine the scene of the "sound of the tower flute" in the past, with the crenellated tiles and flying eaves pillars of the watchtower. The poem by Li Bingjun, a Qing Dynasty poet, goes: "In autumn, the flute plays at the sea gate, and the vast clouds and trees tower above the watchtower. I pay tribute to the fate of Gao Ge, and only the river flows through the gate." It is deeply moving and thought-provoking for its fate and that of Taiwan as a whole
