Introduction
& nbsp; Gaoshan Theater is a theater in Hong Kong that focuses on Cantonese opera performances. It is located in Gaoshan Road Park in To Kwa Wan, Kowloon and is currently managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. The Gaoshan Theater was completed and put into use in 1983. It was originally a semi outdoor theater with 3000 seats. Due to its design being frequently affected by weather and noise, multiple improvement projects were launched in 1995, mainly transforming the original theater into an all-weather indoor theater, improving stage equipment, and adding rehearsal rooms, conference rooms, and other facilities. The improved venue reopened in October 1996, with 1031 theater seats (916 hall seats and 115 tower seats). In addition to being one of the few Cantonese opera performance venues in Kowloon District, it will hold large-scale lantern shows together with Gaoshan Road Park every Yuanxiao (Filled round balls made of glutinous rice-flour for Lantern Festival) Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival. The Gaoshan Theater may undergo an expansion project in 2008-2009. The plan is to convert the tennis court in Gaoshan Road Park into a subsidiary building of the Gaoshan Theater and set up a medium-sized theater with 600 seats inside the building
