Home of Lu Xun at Shaoxing

The former residence of Lu Xun in Shaoxing is located at No. 241 Lu Xun Middle Road, Yuecheng District, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, at the mouth of Dongchangfang in Shaoxing City. It is situated on the west side of the Lu Xun Memorial Hall and belongs to the Qing Dynasty architecture. It is located on the west axis of the Zhoujia Xintai Gate

The former residence of Lu Xun in Shaoxing includes the Sanwei Bookstore and the old gate of the Zhou family. The new gate of the former residence of Lu Xun in Shaoxing faces north and south, with a total of six entrances and more than 80 rooms, covering an area of 4000 square meters, including the backyard or Baicao Garden

Overview

Shaoxing Lu Xun's Former Residence is arranged in the form of a platform gate, with six entrances in front and back, covering an area of 580 square meters. The first entry is the platform gate bucket; The second entrance consists of a flat house and a long corridor; On the west side of the third entrance downstairs is the bedroom where Lu Xun worked in Shaoxing. The fourth entrance is a two-story building, and the first half of the east end downstairs is called the small hall, which was the place where Lu Xun's family dined and received guests. The latter half is the bedroom of Lu Rui, the mother of Lu Xun. The first half of the west end downstairs is Lu Xun's grandmother's bedroom, and the second half serves as a hallway; The fifth entrance is the kitchen; The sixth entrance is a three room flat house with a door leading to the Hundred Grass Garden in the middle. Today, all entrances and rooms are arranged in their original state for display. Baicao Garden covers an area of about 2000 square meters and is a vegetable garden shared by the Zhou family. The park is planted with soapberry trees, mulberry trees, and other structures such as low walls and water wells

Sanwei Bookstore, a Qing Dynasty building, is located about 70 meters east of Lu Xun's former residence. It was originally a study for the Shou family, but later converted into a private school. Lu Xun entered the school here when he was 12 to 17 years old. The bookstore is located in the east flower hall of Shoujiatai Gate, facing east and west, with three bay flat rooms. There is a small garden behind the house, planted with wintersweet, osmanthus, and bamboo, which is a place for Lu Xun and his classmates to play and frolic after class

Zhou Family Old Platform Gate

Zhou Family Old Platform Gate is the ancestral home of Lu Xun, a Qing Dynasty architecture that was the residence of Lu Xun's ancestors for generations. 70 meters east of Lu Xun's former residence, across the river from Sanwei Bookstore. The old gate faces north and south, covering an area of approximately 2400 square meters. The central axis building has four entrances in front and back, from south to north consisting of a platform gate, a hall, a incense hall, and a main building, with wing buildings to the east and west. The first entry is the platform gate bucket; The second entrance is the hall, known as the front hall, with five compartments; The third entrance is the incense hall, with five rooms. The main room is the hall, the east and end rooms are the Buddhist hall and guest rooms, and the west and end rooms are the dining room and living room; The fourth entrance is the main building, with seven rooms. The middle of the building is in front of a small hall, the east end is the study, and the west end is the bedroom. The East Wing Tower has nine bays, while the West Wing Tower has seven bays. The central axis and the east and west wing buildings are now arranged in their original state for display
