: In 1825, the fervent art enthusiast Ludwig I ascended the throne and hired architect Leo von Kranz to design and build a large art museum to showcase the art collection of the Wittelsbach family to the public. In 1836, this art museum with Venetian Renaissance architectural style was completed. It is one of the six major oil painting collections in the world, focusing on Dutch and Flemish works. The collection of Rubens' paintings here is the largest in the world. Highlights include: "Self Portrait" depicting the appearance of the savior, "The Four Disciples" and "The Worship of the Magi" by D ü rer, as well as "The Madonna and the Child" by Potecheri

: Across from the Ancient Painting Exhibition Hall on Trekkien Road. It has a modern appearance, centered around German romanticism and naturalism painting, exhibiting paintings from various parts of 19th century Europe, mainly collecting works of modern painting masters such as Van Gogh, Monet, Gauguin, etc. after the 19th century. Its predecessor was a private gallery established by Ludwig I for his own collection. Construction began in 1884 and was completed and opened nine years later, exhibiting three hundred works.
