How did the history of Daxing watermelon come aboutThe term 'watermelon' first appeared in the book 'New History of the Five Dynasties' (Appendix to the Four Barbarians) written by Ouyang Xiu during the Song Dynasty. Over 1000 years ago, planting had already taken place in Hebei Province and was introduced to Beijing. Daxing is a famous watermelon producing area and distribution center. About 400 years ago, during the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty, there were records of tribute paid to watermelons in Daxing. Daxing is located in the southeastern suburbs of Beijing, on the east side of the Yongding River. To the south of Tiangongyuan Village in Beizang Village, there are 10 townships represented by Panggezhuang.
