Basic Introduction to Jinzhai Silk

Jinzhai Silk started relatively late, lagging behind neighboring provinces in Jiangsu and Zhejiang by more than 40 years. In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, only soil spinning and spinning were possible. In the 1950s, the sericulture industry developed year by year, and by the mid-1970s, the production of silkworm cocoons exceeded 500 tons, leading to the establishment of silk spinning factories. In the initial stage, due to technical management and other issues, the quality did not meet export standards, resulting in excessive backlog of white factory silk. In order to find a way out for the backlog of silk, the chemical factory was converted to silk weaving. In the 1980s, the quality of silk improved and the market situation gradually improved, leading to rapid development of the silk industry. Counties, districts, and towns (townships) are actively developing the silk industry. The capacity of county factories has doubled, and township enterprises have continuously developed three silk reeling factories. The county's silk reeling production capacity has reached 520 units, 10400 threads, and the design requirement is to produce 250 tons per year. Among them, the county factory is the largest, with an installed capacity of 280 units, 5600 threads, and an annual output of 140 tons of white velvet. It has 1200 employees and has become the first medium-sized enterprise in the county. After the silk weaving factory, the silk weaving industry has developed a second silk weaving factory, and three silk weaving factories have been established in rural industries. There are a total of 550 weaving machines in the county with a design capacity of 5 million meters. Among them, the two silk weaving factories run by the county have the largest scale, each with 200 weaving machines and an annual production of 4 million meters of silk fabrics. The other three township enterprises have a design capacity of 50 weaving machines, basically achieving self-produced white silk and self digestion.
