Wangmo County is the main production area of Guizhou chestnuts, with a long history of cultivation. Since 2002, the county has fully relied on the advantages of natural resources in mountainous areas and the use of the Grain for Green project to promote the large-scale planting of chestnuts, implement forestry and poverty alleviation projects, and expand the scale of chestnut planting throughout the county. So far, the chestnut area in the county has reached 250000 mu, with a production area of 140000 mu, an annual output of 28000 tons of dried chestnuts, and a planting income of 274 million yuan

The chestnut industry in Wangmo County has initially formed an industrial development pattern integrating planting, research and development, processing, sales, and tourism, becoming a leading area for the development of chestnut industry in Guizhou and even the whole country, and has become the leading industry in Wangmo County. Wangmo is located in the southeastern part of Qiannan Prefecture and is known as the "Buyi Mountain and Water Green Wangmo". In order to create a famous chestnut county in China and promote the development of the chestnut industry in Wangmo County, Wangmo County has organized and completed the preparation of the chestnut county declaration text in accordance with the relevant requirements for declaring a famous chestnut county in China's economic forest. With the support and coordination of relevant departments such as the Forestry Department of Guizhou Province and the Forestry Bureau of Qiannan Prefecture, the declaration work has successfully passed the expert investigation and review.
