Basic Introduction of Huangqi Xiaomi
"Huangqi Xiaomi", also known as "Kangxi Gongmi", has round grains, golden color, good taste, and is rich in various nutrients needed by the human body
Characteristics of Origin
Kangxi Gongmi is produced in Leyuan Township and Liangui Township, Huangqi Town, Fengning Manchu Autonomous County, Hebei Province. It is located at 42 degrees north latitude, 230 kilometers north of Beijing, and is adjacent to the Chaohe River source. The soil here is fertile, the climate is cool, and the rainfall is moderate, which is very suitable for grain growth. The entire industry chain is organically planted without any chemical pesticides (because farmers do not even have enough cost to plant with chemical fertilizers and pesticides). Huangqi Town has a temperate continental monsoon climate, with short winters and short bottoms, significant differences in temperature between cold and heat, the highest temperature in mid July each year, the lowest temperature in January, and a frost free period of 110-140 days throughout the year. This avoids energy loss of foxtail millet and provides sufficient sunshine and a growth cycle. Long term, only one season per year, with up to 2700 hours of sunshine per week. The large temperature difference between day and night is conducive to the accumulation and preservation of dry matter in millet, making it nutritious, The particles are full. The fertile soil with an average depth of 2 meters provides sufficient nutrients and irreplaceable natural conditions for the growth of millet
The Origin of Kangxi Tribute Rice
During the Qing Dynasty, Shanghuang Banner (now Huangqi Town, Fengning Manchu Autonomous County) was located 200 kilometers north of Beijing and 30 kilometers north of Fengning City. It was one of the four major towns in the Qing Dynasty's Four Banners Department, located in a deep mountainous area with a tidal river source, fertile soil, a cool climate, moderate rainfall, and very suitable for grain growth. In the second year of Shunzhi (1646 AD), the Manchu Zhenghuang Banner sent six surnames and ten households to cultivate land here, successively reclaiming more than 400 hectares of land. On August 31, 1683 (the seventh month of the lunar calendar), Emperor Kangxi, along with his grandmother Gilbou, and the royal minister Shu Jun, inspected the Shangdu River from the mouth of the Gabai Valley. They passed by Huangqi Dajian while hunting. Kangxi went to a farmhouse to eat rice, which tasted like tea and meat. After returning to court, they decided to make Huangqi millet a tribute rice for the imperial court. In the 24th year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1685 AD), Huangzhuang was placed under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In the Qing court palace, people ate 7000 and 70 stones of millet, of which the majority were tribute rice from Huangzhuang in Shanghuang Banner, hence the name "Kangxi tribute rice"
